This is how a rebrand is done!  Listen up Gap and check out the new Starbucks logo.

Starbucks are soon to launch a revised logo.  Obviously based on the orginal, but cleaner, more elegant, digital ready, and simpler.  Who needs words to communicate the brand?  After 40 years in business Starbucks is one of the most recognisable brands in the world sitting along side Apple, Nike, and Coca-Cola.  Shape and colour say it all and offer a fresh new look at this coffee shop.  And perhaps more importantly the brand is more than a coffee shop as it aims to become a community space.  There are plenty of Starbucks haters out there due to their success and other things, but you got to love this redesign! :)
